I found this image earlier in the evening, while in the midst of writing my previous post LOL: Lopate On Loan, and I couldn’t decide whether this is simply garbage that the internet has brought into being or if it is genuinely a new art form inspired by the accessibility of digital media in our modern age. But, if it is new and unexplored, what then to call it? It has to have a name, does it not? It manipulates images from video (in this case, one of the most popular moving pictures in history), and transforms itself into a humorous four-panel comic strip. It’s like a video remix, but without all those complex moving parts. It is simple, direct and perfect. It is media recontextualized as a form of parody and I cannot help but fall in love. Has anyone else come across similar images lately?
